INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE 

Brentwood is proud to be an IB World School. The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

The International Baccalaureate Programme is an international program that was founded in 1968. It provides rigorous academic standards which are recognized globally, with over 4,000 schools worldwide participating. After intensive preparation, accreditation work, and staff training, Brentwood Middle School was officially added to that elite list in 2026.

AVID

Decades of College Dreams

The AVID elective class is a college preparatory elective class available for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. AVID stands for Achievement Via Individual Determination. The AVID class helps to prepare students to be successful in school and later, college. Students learn organizational and note-taking skills as well as take on leadership roles. Additionally, students learn to work in collaborative groups and to take personal responsibility for their own learning in school. AVID students visit the high school campuses as well some colleges in the area.
